NEW DATE FOR ASIA PACIFIC THIRD SECTOR LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
The Asia Pacific Third Sector Leadership Summit has come of age. After
successful Summits in 2001 and 2004, which provided third sector leaders with a
unique opportunity to access high level international leadership teaching and
development, it was agreed that in order to build on the momentum of these
events and respond to the interests of third sector leaders throughout Australia
and the wider East Asia region, the logical next step was to forge a partnership
with a major Australian University. We have very recently achieved this goal!
We are delighted to announce that we have established a partnership with
Macquarie University (Institute for Innovation). Macquarie University has an
established reputation in developing leaders, encouraging innovation and
research. We believe this partnership will mean that the Summit will certainly
prosper into the future. The principal objective of the partnership is to continue to
enhance the leadership capability of the Third Sector in the Asia Pacific region.
This will in turn impact through every level of the wider community, with leaders
who are better equipped to deal with ongoing challenges in a shifting non profit
environment. Resultant enriched programs and services for clients of third sector
agencies are an obvious subsidiary benefit.
Along with the transition of some key staff, this partnership has taken longer
than envisaged. Therefore the decision has been taken to reschedule the
Summit until June/July of 2007. We believe this will allow us to maximize the
advantage of the breadth of the partnership with Macquarie University, Corporate
Australia, and more importantly the growth potential of the demands and
interests within the Third Sector. Already we are delighted with the interest from
overseas speakers, government and the leaders of Australia for Summit 2007.
Furthermore, in addition to the Summit becoming part of the calendar of
Macquarie University, it is also raising its direct and indirect contribution to
developing leaders and research opportunities in building the capacity and
capability of the Third Sector of Australasia.
